A MIGRANT has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting three women within five days.
Sohail Amiri, 30, who claims to be from Afghanistan, is accused of attempting to kiss one of his victims and inappropriately approaching two others.
Authorities initiated an investigation following reports of three distinct attacks in Southampton, Hampshire.
One woman was targeted while walking along Upper Shaftesbury Avenue just after midnight on Tuesday, November 25.
She was approached by an unknown man who allegedly attempted to kiss her, but she bravely managed to push him away.
Hampshire Police reported that two women were also assaulted on Westwood Road a month earlier, on September 23.
Amiri reportedly made inappropriate comments and advances towards them.
The police confirmed that he has been charged with three counts of sexual assault.
He has also been charged with entering the United Kingdom without permission, in violation of Section 24 of the Immigration Act 1971.
In a statement, they said: “Our investigations team has conducted inquiries since then, and we have now charged a man.
“Sohail Amiri, 30, of Highfield Lane, Southampton, has been charged with sexual assault.
“He has also been charged with two additional counts of sexual assault related to incidents that occurred on September 23…
“… he is alleged to have made inappropriate comments and advances towards two women in Westwood Road.
“Amiri, who claims to be from Afghanistan, has also been charged with entering the UK without leave, contrary to Section 24 of the Immigration Act 1971.
He appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
