A migrant who arrived by small boat and raped a 15-year-old girl in an alleyway is set to appeal his conviction, which is viewed as a “final insult” to his traumatized victim.

Amin Abedi Mofrad, 35, shown above, received a sentence of 12½ years last month after a jury deliberated for less than three hours.

A judge labeled Mofrad as “dangerous” and indicated that he was highly likely to reoffend unless imprisoned for an extended period.

Sources revealed that the convicted individual filed his appeal with the Court of Appeal on October 29, just hours before the deadline.

It remains unclear what grounds the Iranian national will cite to contest his conviction.

No date for a hearing has been established yet.

A friend of the victim's family expressed: “The young girl hoped the sentence would be the conclusion of this ordeal, but now the family fears they will be involved in further hearings and that there is even a slight possibility of Mofrad being released.”

“To them, it feels like his final insult.”

The victim’s mother stated that her daughter “bears a pain and trauma no child should ever have to endure.”

Mofrad, who has 11 prior assault convictions, claims he would face the death penalty for “renouncing Islam” if he were to return to his home country.
