MICHAEL CARRICK insists he was not offended by Manchester United supporters booing his decision to substitute Kobbie Mainoo.

United supporters loudly booed Mainoo’s removal and broke into a rendition of his chant before Matheus Cunha claimed a deflected 89th-minute equaliser.
Carrick accepted emotions were running high with United staring at a third successive defeat before they nabbed a late point.
He said: “There’s always going to be certain reactions when you’re making changes.”
“I think Kobbie played well to be honest, so it was just more of at that stage of the game we’re trying to make something happen and Kobbie understands that.
“He’s fine, I spoke to him after the game, he’s absolutely fine. He’s all about the team and what’s best.
“It’s just one of those things. I understand at times when chasing the game everyone’s a little bit emotional, the supporters are, as well they should be.
“They’re desperate for us to do the right thing. But I don’t take any negatives or offence to it. I think we’ve just got to try and keep doing the right things to get back into the game.
“The supporters were unbelievable today, I have to say, all the way through, and stuck with the boys and supported the boys.

United had a chance to win the game in added time and Carrick highlighted “the way we finished the game. It didn’t look like [United lacked energy] for me.
“I was quite happy with the way we finished the game, I thought we finished the game really strong actually, and kept pushing.
“So I don’t think that’s an issue, no.”
Benjamin Sesko missed United’s win after feeling soreness in the shin injury that sidelined him for three-and-a-half months.
Sesko aggravated the injury when he was shoved off the Old Trafford pitch in the 3-2 win against Liverpool on May 3 and he is yet to start in the Premier League this season.
Sources say the 23-year-old will be assessed over the coming days so United can get a clearer situation of the pain.
Carrick added: “At the moment, he definitely wasn’t ready for today, so I haven’t really got any more news to give you at this point. We’ll have to see what that brings.”
