An amber weather warning, indicating a “DANGER to life,” has been issued by the Met Office, as an entire month's worth of rain is expected to fall within a single day.

Britons should prepare for a wet start to the week, with warnings in effect until the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Forecasters have warned that “heavy rain is likely to cause some disruption” across various parts of the UK today.

The southern regions will bear the brunt of the rainfall, with the amber warning extended until midnight on Monday.

The warning indicates that “fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, which could pose a danger to life” across most of the area.

Rainfall amounts between 20mm and 40mm are expected widely, with some areas potentially receiving between 100mm and 120mm.

This amount of rain could equal what the region typically receives in an entire month, all in just 24 hours.

The Met Office also cautions that the heavy rain could heighten the risk of landslides, especially since the ground is already saturated.

This month, Wales has experienced significantly wetter conditions, recording nearly 100mm more rainfall than the November average.

Combined, England and Wales have received 143% of the typical rainfall levels for this month, according to meteorologists.

Strong winds are anticipated alongside the rainfall, with gales possible along the coast and over higher terrains.

Widespread flooding remains a serious threat, prompting The Environment Agency to issue five flood warnings.

There is also a possibility of power outages and the interruption of services to homes and businesses in certain areas.

Officials have noted that some communities might become isolated due to flooded roads.

The Met Office alerts indicate that fast-flowing or deep floodwater may develop, creating potentially life-threatening conditions.

Across the UK, yellow weather warnings from the Met Office are still active.

The south-west can expect heavy rain until 9pm on Monday.

Warnings are also in effect for north-west England, parts of Wales, and south-west England until 3am on Tuesday.

Experts advise checking road conditions before traveling to minimize the chances of delays.

The Met Office warns: “You may need to adjust or even cancel journeys if driving conditions are unsafe.

“Check if your property is at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.”

Richard Preece, Duty Tactical Manager at Natural Resources Wales, stated: “With some rivers already swollen and the ground saturated, we anticipate several flood alerts and warnings will be issued.

“We also expect the rain to create surface water issues. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and make preparations for potential flooding now.
