RUMOURED Tottenham target Mauro Icardi has gone to war against Argentina’s government – after his girlfriend’s antics landed him a driving ban.
The Argentine striker, a free agent since leaving Turks this summer, has been to ‘s struggling side.
Former and star has meanwhile landed in hot water in his home country.
, the 33-year-old is now in a relationship with Maria Eugenia Suarez – nicknamed La China.
She posted footage on social media of herself hanging out of the window of Icardi’s car as he drove at high speed.
Argentina’s Ministry of Transport has since reacted by stripping the footballer of his driving licence.
They posted on X: “Icardi at the wheel with an expired licence. Eugenia ‘La China’ Suarez took off her seatbelt, and put a large part of her body through the car window as Mauro Icardi continued to drive.
“After the video was published, we established that Icardi’s driving licence had expired. For this reason we have declared him to be banned from driving.
“Before he gets a new permit he will have to be tested to determine his aptitude to drive. Road safety does not allow for any exceptions.”
A furious Icardi took to social media to hit back at the government department.
He raged: “I want to know how you have managed to cancel my Italian driving licence, which is valid until 2029.
“It strikes me as strange that even the transport minister gets onto my back, just to get into the media a bit.
“Make sure to fix the roads, so our country’s traffic flows better, instead of spending your time tweeting and scratching your b***s.
“Stop telling lies about people, and get to work. I had to give up my Argentine driving licence in order to get one in Europe.
“What kind of ban are you going to invent? All this for a bit of scandalmongering.”
Icardi has long made as many headlines for his private life as for his achievements on the pitch.
He has previously won seven trophies with PSG, as well as half a dozen with Galatasaray.
