And his club put out a statement to reassure fans and show their appreciation to supporters for their messages.
posted on X on Wednesday afternoon: “In response to speculation, we can confirm that has undergone a small procedure in hospital.
“We would envisage Martin being released from hospital in the next day or two and on behalf of Martin, we would like to thank supporters for their kind wishes.
“We would ask that the privacy of Martin and his family is respected.”
Fans flooded the replies with further best wishes.

O’Neill first managed Celtic from 2000 to 2005 after five successful years at Leicester City.
He then took charge of Aston Villa, Sunderland, Ireland and Nottingham Forest before returning to Celtic Park after six years away from the dugout in an interim role last October.
He departed when Wilfried Nancy was appointed in the December – but he lasted just 33 days.
And O’Neill returned in January and spearheaded a domestic double before .
