Kelly, an employee from the store in Battersea, recently took to to share her , so you’ll need to take notes if you’re on the hunt for a new pair of .
She said: “So many people ask me in store, what denim do I need? I wanna change my shape, I wanna step away from skinnies, what jeans do I need? So here I am to show you what’s right for you.”
For those who want to step away from skinny jeans but feel intimidated by wide leg jeans, Kelly recommended the Sienna Straight or the M&S Mom Jeans .
She explained: “These are the ones you wanna choose – the Straight is gonna be a slightly looser fit, fit straight down in the way that a skinny does, but not fix your .”
When it comes to Mom Jeans, she acknowledged: “You’re going a little bit more edgy, , it’s gonna be a higher waist, slightly loose leg, but tapered in at the ankle.”
As she showed off a pair of flared jeans, the added: “I think a flare to me lends itself to be more with a little bit of a heel – heeled boots, heel shoes, so I’d pick these more if you were going out.
“The pockets here at the front are super flattering and the dark denim and the flare shape is gonna elongate your legs.”
Following this, Kelly held up a pair of Wide Leg Ankle Grazers and beamed: “I really would recommend these, these ones have got a really nice amount of stretch, so they’re gonna be super comfortable to wear all day long and that little bit of an ankle grazer works really well with your trainers or your flat shoes, so great to wear day to day.”
But as well as this, Kelly then held up her two personal favourites – the Carrot Ankle Grazer Jeans and the Mid Rise Barrel Jeans .
The revealed: “You’ll see them heavily worn in my out of work – these are full length, not wildly different in shape, they’re a little bit looser, like how a wide leg would be.
“But why I think they work for everybody is because they taper slightly in and they just really work with everything – with heels, trainers, boots.
“If you are up for trying something new in January, I’d be saying, get your or get your .”
Why is it so hard to find the perfect pair of jeans...
Deputy Fashion Editor Abby Mchale has revealed why it's so hard to find the perfect pair of jeans...
If there is one item of clothing that is never easy to buy it’s jeans.
If you think you’ve got your size nailed after finding the perfect fit, nine times out of ten when you next come to buying a pair you will most likely still have to try before you buy.
But what is it about jeans that makes them such a difficult fit?
Well there isn’t a universal size guide that every retailer sticks to, so this means that one brands size 12 could be an inch or so different to another brands and that can make all the difference.
Plus, it’s all about the denim, some jeans are made with stiffer denim that don’t give them as much give.
Whereas some stretchier denims obviously have more stretch which means they can be more forgiving.
However, don’t forget that all denim does eventually stretch, so when you’re trying jeans on and they feel ever so slightly tight, remember that they will actually give after wearing them.
So sadly this does mean the best piece of advice is to just try them on, however if you are short of time or can’t be bothered then the Japanese jean test I have found works quite effectively.
Wrap the waistband of the jeans around your neck, if they can wrap all the way round and don’t leave a gap then they should fit your waist.
