FOR many households, it wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit from Elf on the Shelf.
The funny elf is sent to live with children during the festive period.

Each night, he or she returns to the North Pole to report on the children’s behavior before returning in the morning.
The festive character is usually placed in funny positions and scenarios in the lead up to the holiday to keep kids entertained.
And this year, your little elf can get up to even more mischief, as its creators have revealed a new posable elf.
Unlike, the original Elf on the Shelf, which has a fabric body and legs, this new poseable edition has wired, bendable limbs.
This can make it easier for your elf to get into elaborate poses and create funny scenes.
The new Poseable Scout Elf comes complete with an illustrated storybook, official adoption certificate and keepsake box.
It can be bought on Amazon or the official Elf on the Shelf website for £24.95.
Plenty of retailers also sell dupes of the adorable character.
Hobbycraft are currently selling an Elfie the Christmas Elf for £5.50 and The Range is selling a version for £3.50.
When does Elf on the Shelf begin?
According to the official website your Scout Elf can arrive anytime during the festive period.
Typically he or she will arrive at the start of the celebrations and return to the North Pole with Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.
Santa sends most of his Scout Elves during “Scout Elf Return Week”, which runs from November 23 to December 1.
