MARCUS RASHFORD is set to snub an approach from Fenerbahce as the Turkish giants hunt a Champions League statement signing.

The England star has emerged as the Istanbul club’s top target after they booked their place among Europe’s elite.

SunSport understands Rashford has never had any interest in moving to Turkey.

And he’s looking all the more likely to stay at beyond Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

The forward has forced his way back into the picture at Old Trafford after spending last season on loan at Barcelona.

He has impressed United boss in training, coming on at half-time in last weekend’s defeat to Hull City.

The 28-year-old’s move to the number nine shirt raised a few eyebrows last week.

Many assumed Benjamin Sesko would take the number following Rasmus Hojlund’s exit, but Sesko was set on keeping his current No30.

Reports indicate the number has deeper meaning for him, having worn it throughout his spells at Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig before moving to Man Utd.

Rashford had looked destined to leave United after falling out of favour in recent seasons and spending spells away from the club.

Barcelona had the chance to make his move permanent this summer for £26million.

But the Spanish giants decided against activating that clause, instead signing from Newcastle and from Borussia Dortmund.

They are still searching for a striker after left for Chicago Fire on a free transfer.

Atletico Madrid have also refused to entertain Barcelona’s interest in Julian Alvarez.

That could yet leave the door open for a late Rashford reunion, but Barca have so far given no indication they plan to reopen talks.

Meanwhile, United could still be busy before the window slams shut at 11pm on Tuesday.

Moving him on could give United room to strengthen at left-back, with Barcelona ace Alejandro Balde on their shortlist.

Barca value the Spain international at £30m but United are currently only interested in a loan deal.
