ENZO MARESCA sprung a huge surprise in his opening Premier League showdown in charge of Manchester City – after selecting Marc Guehi in midfield.

The Italian tactician, 46, was following Pep Guardiola’s exit at the end of last season.

And, having suffered a thumping in the Community Shield last week, Maresca made a shock decision to move Guehi away from his usual role.

The centre-back was shifted into the heart of the midfield as City looked to get their Premier League campaign off to a winning start against Bournemouth.

Guehi was deployed alongside Elliot Anderson, who headed to the Etihad Stadium in a during the summer.

Ruben Dias and Abdukodir Khusanov were given the nod in his favoured position.
