The ruling Accord party in Osun State, says it is ready to give full compliance to the new electoral act amendments which mandate political parties to register their members electronically.

The party said it has even started its national e-registration and revalidation of membership in compliance with the new law.

In a statement on Wednesday signed by it’s National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, the party asked its members throughout the country, including those living abroad and people who want to become members, to take this chance to sign up and get their new membership cards.

It advised members who joined the party through the previous platform to also take part in the exercise because more information is now needed.

“This aligns with the new electoral governance framework, which establishes a digital membership register to identify genuine members of our great party and to accredit them for congresses, primaries, and conventions as we diligently prepare for the 2027 general election,” the statement said.

“The national leadership has given instructions to make the e-registration process run smoothly because time is very important. Ward, Local Government, State, and Zonal executives are urged to mobilize members to participate in an extensive membership drive that will culminate in Accord winning upcoming elections.”

DAILY POST reports that as the 2027 general elections get closer, there are signs that opposition political parties are worried about the new rule requiring members to register electronically, which was introduced by the Electoral Act 2026.

The African Democratic Congress warned that the new requirement could narrow the democratic space.
