Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, has hit out at his team-mates, describing their display against Everton as “lazy”.

United played out a 2-2 draw with the Toffees in the Premier League Summer Series on Sunday.

Fernandes opened the scoring from the spot, before Iliman Ndiaye converted Idrissa Gueye’s cross.

Mason Mount came off the bench to restore the Red Devils’ with a curling effort, but Everton equalized again after Amad Diallo got in the way of a clearance and the ball rolled into the net.

“Our performance wasn’t the best and we were a little bit lazy today,” Fernandes said after the game.

“We want to avoid that because with laziness you can pay at any moment.”

Fernandes has now urged United to bring in more quality players ahead of the new season.

He added: “It was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here, more quality to get everyone to step up a little more to get to the XI, and I think that is what the club are trying to do.”
