The former defender, 44, has gained an impressive 13.5 million followers on Instagram.
Since retiring, he has remained in the public eye, frequently posting entertaining videos and popularizing his catchphrase “I love this game.”
However, the Frenchman often appears in his videos wearing only one shoe.
For the first time, he has shared the reason behind this – a heartfelt tribute to his beloved mother, Juliette.
Evra told Pluto TV’s Yellow Couch show with Jeremy Lynch: “People ask me in the comments all the time, ‘Why is he wearing one shoe?’ ‘Does he not have enough money?’ or similar comments.
“Actually, every time I make a video without wearing my left shoe, I dedicate all my videos to my mum.
“In 2010, while I was with the French national team, my brother called to tell me, ‘Patrice, you need to come to the hospital.’
“He said our mother had a stomach issue.
“I consulted the manager and went to the hospital the next day.
“Upon arriving in the corridor, I saw everyone crying. I noticed my brother and sister and thought, ‘This is strange.’
“When I entered the room, my mum was in bed. After kissing her, I sat beside her. It was only when I pulled back the blanket that I discovered her left leg was missing.
“Naturally, I was furious. I nearly confronted the doctor for amputating my mother’s leg.
“I’ve never shared this before because it’s personal, but it’s somewhat humorous when you think about it.
“However, every time I create a video, I dedicate it to my hero, my mum.
“Initially, it was challenging, but my mum now has a prosthetic leg and she dances.
“Currently, she is battling Alzheimer’s, which makes this a tough time for her, but she remains positive.”
Evra spent eight-and-a-half years at Old Trafford from 2006 to 2014.
He made 379 appearances for the Red Devils, winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League, before adding two Serie A-Coppa Italia doubles with Juventus.
The left-back retired from professional football after a brief period with West Ham in 2018.
Even after hanging up his boots, he chose to remain in the public eye.

Evra first confided in his family after they watched a documentary about a pedophile.
He later spoke out in 2021.
