NICKY BUTT’S son Ruben did the Manchester United legend proud by scoring twice on his first-ever start for Salford on Tuesday.
Butt Jr showed he’s following in his dad’s footsteps after starring in 4-2 win over Wolves’ U21s in the Vertu Trophy.

He helped himself to two goals in the rout, with his first a polished finish into the far corner after cutting inside from the wing.
But the best was yet to come as Butt completed his brace with a sublime chip over the keeper to seal Salford’s win.
It saw him pocket the Man of the Match award.
And fans reacted with delight to his efforts, with one saying: “Beautiful goal.”
One noted: “Fantastic from Ruben.”
Another added: “Go on the boy.”
Dad was sure to have watched on proudly, having himself been a backer of the League Two club before fellow Class of ’92 pals Gary Neville and
18-year-old Butt has made three appearances this season as an attacking midfielder.
And following his latest performance, the teen is surely set for more minutes in Salford’s starting XI.
He has some way to go though if he is to match his dad’s achievements.

Butt then starred 173 times for Toon before ending his career with spells at Birmingham and Hong Kong-based side South China.
He also won 39 England caps across eight seasons before moving into coaching.
Butt ended up becoming United’s academy head and later chief of first team development.
He then joined forces with Beckham, Neville and Co to purchase Salford City in 2014.
Butt eventually became CEO in 2022 before stepping down last year and now retains links with the club through son Ruben.
