Announcing the news alongside a picture of Kai, 16, beaming as he penned a contract, Triple S wrote on Instagram: “Delighted to announce the signing of @kairooney.10 to Triple S Sports!
“We’re excited to begin working with the forward as he continues his journey in the game. A bright future ahead.
“Welcome to the team, Kai!”
The post swiftly received more than 20,000 likes, with Kai’s dad Wayne commenting with a heart emoji.
Kai has recently been in action for Manchester United’s Under-18s after shaking off a nasty ankle injury.
The promising young forward has made five appearances in the Under-18 Premier League this term – two years above his age group.
