Manchester United have appointed their former midfielder, Darren Fletcher as lead coach of the Under-18s.

Man United announced Fletcher’s appointment in a post via their website onMonday.

Fletcher had returned to the Red Devils in 2021 after spending 20 years at the Premier League club as a football player.

The 41-year-old made over 340 appearances for Man United as a player, winning five Premier League titles, two League Cups, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

“I’m really excited to take on this new role and increase my responsibility to directly develop our young players,”; Fletcher told the club’s website.

“I am looking forward to working with such a talented age-group,”; he added.

Fletcher has already started his new role with immediate effect and has taken charge of the group’s pre-season preparations this summer.
