A man has been arrested tonight by detectives who are investigating the sexual assault of a woman who was taken into a wooded area of a coastal town on Bonfire Night.
The 24-year-old suspect from Bournemouth has been taken into police custody and will be questioned regarding the assault on a woman in her 30s.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police stated: “We received a report at 9:18 PM on Wednesday, November 5, indicating that a man had assaulted a woman in her 30s in a wooded area near Maxwell Road in Bournemouth.
“The woman had previously met someone she knew in Charminster when she was approached by an unknown individual.
“After a brief interaction, the victim and the unknown man proceeded to Maxwell Road, where the reported incident took place.
“An investigation was initiated, and following inquiries, a 24-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
“He remains in police custody.”
Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins from the Major Crime Investigation Team remarked: “Specialist officers are offering support to the victim, and we are keeping her informed throughout our inquiries.
“We have now made an arrest and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. I would like to appeal to anyone who may have information or who may have captured relevant CCTV footage from the area to please come forward.
“We recognize that reports of this nature can understandably cause concern within the community, but we want to reassure you that local officers are patrolling the area and are available to anyone who has concerns or wishes to provide information.”
