Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has reacted to rumors of an impeachment plot against him.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that the speculation began in the early hours of Tuesday, April 14, 2026, with claims that former Oyo State First Lady, Florence Ajimobi, allegedly held a meeting with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adebowale Ogundoyin, over plans to remove the governor.
Speaking during the inauguration of key committees set up to drive the state’s long-term tourism development and preparations for the International Tourism Summit 2026 on Thursday, Makinde downplayed the rumours.
“So this administration will come to an end in one year and one month.
“So what will happen next? Well, that is if I am not impeached then,” he said jokingly.
Speaking further, he said, “Today, we inaugurated two committees, the Organising Committee for the International Tourism Summit Oyo State 2026 (#ITSOyoState2026) which will hold next month 12-14 May 2026.
“The 25-Year Tourism Master Plan Committee, a forward-looking committee to create a master plan that will guide decisions, shape investments, and outlive administrations in Oyo State.
“As I said in my remarks, this is serious work and will require active participation and my expectation is that members of both committees will put in their best to make these projects work for the good people of Oyo State.”
