MACCLESFIELD TOWN’s captain fantastic Paul Dawson revealed some textbook Rooney critique he was given ahead of their FA Cup giant killing of Crystal Palace.
Wayne Rooney’s brother, John, is the Macclesfield manager and he had some straightforward words for his skipper before they welcomed the Premier League side to The Leasing.com Stadium.

Dawson said: “He told me last week I’m two stone overweight and my best foot is my head!”
The centre-back was talking after scoring first in over Palace, arguably one of the greatest upsets in the history of the FA Cup.
Macclesfield are sitting 14th in the National League North, a full 117 league places below the Eagles.
The visitors were also the FA Cup holders and currently playing European football in the Conference League – a profound gap indeed.
Dawson opened the scoring after a free-kick was whipped into the box and, as Rooney suggested, Dawson got his head on the end of the cross to give the non-league side the lead.
The 27-year-old had to his head prior to his goal, but that Terry Butcher-esque wound didn’t stop him scoring a legendary goal.
Isaac Buckley-Ricketts put the minnows in dreamland when he doubled their lead in the 61st minute before Yeremy Pino made for a nervy conclusion with a strike in the 90th minute.

Rooney said: “I’m actually getting emotional.
“To see my younger brother achieve this, he’s not long been in management.
“To get to the fourth round of the FA Cup and beat a Premier League team in Crystal Palace, I’m so proud of him.
“He looked calm – I don’t know how. It’s such an achievement what he’s done today. Absolutely superb.”
