A MAJOR UK motorway has ground to a halt following a multi-vehicle collision involving at least seven motors.
The M65 in is currently closed westbound within Junction 3 – Brimmicroft Interchange – near Blackburn.
Emergency services have been scrambled to the site of the crash and are working to bring the chaotic scene under control.
, paramedics and fire crews have all responded to the ongoing incident.
Drivers are currently facing hour long delays and have been advised to plan their route accordingly.
A six mile long queue of traffic has built along the busy motorway in the wake of the pile up.
Police said they were alerted to the incident at around 4pm; it remains unclear if any serious injuries were reported.
National Highways said: “The M65 in is CLOSED westbound within J3 (Brimmicroft Interchange near Blackburn) due to a collision involving at least 7 vehicles.
“All emergency services are on scene.
“Traffic is being diverted via the exit & entry slip roads. 60 min delay & 6 miles of congestion.”
