A MAJOR UK motorway has ground to a halt following a horror traffic smash.
Two of three lanes on the M6 southbound at Junction 8, M5, have been closed in the wake of the smash with emergency services rushing to the scene.
It remains unclear if anyone was seriously injured in the collision.
Long queues of traffic are beginning to build as the closure sparks rush hour chaos.
Highways England has warned drivers to expect moderate delays along the route.
Normal traffic conditions are expected to be restored as soon as possible with emergency crews working at the chaotic scene.
National Highways said: “The event is expected to clear and normal traffic conditions are expected between 07:00 and 07:15.”
