A MAJOR motorway has seen all lanes closed after a “serious” crash sparked long delays.

The M6 northbound is closed between Junction 6 (Birmingham, Spaghetti Junction) and Junction 7 (A34 Great Barr), National Highways said.

Traffic officers are on scene assisting with full carriageway closures and traffic management measures.

“Due to the nature of the incident, the closure is expected to be protracted,” National Highways said.

West Midlands Police are leading the response, supported by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The road has been shut for more than four hours and an exact reopening time has not yet been given.
