Heroic rescuers managed to save at least 316 passengers – including several babies – by escorting them onto new ships where they were safely taken to land.
The Philippine Coast Guard also found 15 bodies, officials confirmed.
Investigations into what caused the sinking are ongoing.
Coast Guard spokeswoman Noemie Cayabyab said: “Based on the account of some survivors, the waters in the area were rough at the time.”
