Who are Luke Littler’s Parents?

Luke's parents, Anthony and Lisa, have been instrumental in his success.

They supported his development in the sport by driving him across the country for tournaments during his childhood.

They even took him to the pub to practice.

What Do Anthony Buckley and Lisa Littler Do?

Luke's father, Anthony, works as a taxi driver in Cheshire.

His mother, Lisa, is employed at a shop that sells scented candles.

Reflecting on Luke's journey in darts, Buckley told The Times : “He was a talented footballer. He loved it, as all kids do. However, I told him at the age of nine to hang up his boots.

“Focus on darts. You can still play football occasionally, but if there’s a darts competition on the weekends, prioritize darts.

“Make that your main focus, because I believed he could succeed in darts — and he has.”

“When I encouraged him to keep playing darts, he was on board with it. We entered him into every competition available online.

“There were times when I had to wake up at 7 a.m. on a Saturday — my only day off — just so he could play darts. There were no lazy mornings.”

Lisa’s social media is a testament to her son’s remarkable achievements in the sport.

She was the one who shared the memorable video of him throwing darts while wearing a nappy.

Since her son became the sport’s prominent figure, she has been vocal, defending him against fans who booed him during the 2025/26 World Championship for comments made on stage.

Lisa stood up for Luke, posting: “So they purchase tickets with their hard-earned money only to sit there and boo.”

She even called one commenter a “sad individual” before later deleting the post.

How Did Luke Littler Get Into Darts and Who is His Coach?

In December 2023, a video surfaced of Littler as an 18-month-old toddler throwing darts at a magnetic board.

This board was a gift from his father, Anthony, who also played darts casually.

Littler's skill was evident even as a toddler in a nappy.

Just over seven years later, he began training at the renowned St Helens Darts Shop, which has helped develop professional players such as Dave Chisnall.

Luke’s childhood coach, Karl Holden, who trained him at the shop located northeast of the city center, shared that he was dominating his opponents by the age of nine.

He stated: “He has been coming here since he was nine. We are all incredibly proud.

“When he first joined as a child, it was clear he was exceptionally talented, and he just kept improving. Each year he became better than the last.

“We moved him up to the U14s when he was nine, but just three months later, he was defeating all of them.”

He added: “At nine, he was impressive. By the time he was 11, he was outstanding.

“He’s truly a prodigy. I would say he’s the future of darts.

“He is among the best players in the world at just 16.”

By the age of 11, he was competing against and defeating adult players.

Discussing his extraordinary success with the BBC , Littler stated: “By the age of four, I was on the proper board. From 18 months, I have been non-stop.

“After moving to Warrington when I was eight or nine, we began going out to pubs four to five times a week.”
