Beloved Coronation Street Star Extends Contract for a 27th Year on the Cobbles!

CORRIE star Tina O’Brien has signed a new contract that will keep her on the beloved cobbles for another year.

The 42-year-old, who has portrayed Sarah Platt since 1999, faced a challenging 2025, but the show's bosses secured her new contract before the Christmas break.

In June, it was revealed that she had separated from her husband Adam Crofts after seven years of marriage.

The former couple shares a son, Beau, who is 10 years old, while Tina also has a daughter, Scarlett, age 16, with her former co-star Ryan Thomas.

Later, in November, she announced on her Instagram account the passing of her beloved father, Steven.

In an emotional post, she expressed: “My dad passed away recently. I haven’t quite found the words to express it. My heart is very heavy, but I’m grateful that he is no longer suffering. Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this difficult time.”

A source from Corrie stated: “Tina had a very tough 2025, so the bosses wanted to reassure her that her job was secure.

“She signed the contract just before the Christmas break. There have been many changes over the last few months, and the last thing they wanted was for her to worry about her role on Corrie.

“She is very much loved on set, and her character has some exciting storylines coming up this year.”

An ITV spokeswoman declined to comment.

As if the heartbreak of losing her father wasn’t enough, just a week later, she ended her relationship after only four months of dating.

The star had made their relationship official with the millionaire businessman in the and they both made their first public appearance at her co-star Jack P. Shepherd’s wedding in July.

However, the two were clearly not meant to be, as she ended things with him in November.

Insiders revealed that the actress decided to end the relationship after feeling it “wasn’t going anywhere” and doubted it “would last.”

This outcome reportedly shocked Adam, 38, who believed they had a real future together.

The soap star took the step of removing all photos of her and Adam from her Instagram account as she cut her final ties with him.

Photos from their romantic getaway in September were also deleted.
