LOVE Island champ Nathan Massey has fired back at online trolls who bombarded him with dad-shaming messages and branded him a “s**t husband.”
The 33-year-old star shot to fame on series two of Love Island , winning the show alongside his now-wife, Cara De La Hoyde.

Since the show the pair have got married and had two kids together – seven-year-old Freddie and five-year-old Delilah – and continue to work as influencers on social media.
The young family often document their lives on Instagram but now, after Cara , 35, jetted off to Dubai solo, Nathan has become a troll target.
He uploaded a host of vile messages he’s received on his Stories, which showed one person blasting him as a “s***ty husband.”
Another claimed Cara – who had prepped well for her kids before she left – as a “married single mum” before they added: “Bit embarrassing for the dad isn’t it.
“Cringe.”
A third cruelly wrote: “How long do we think she’ll stick it out before realising she’s better off without him.”
Nathan posted the comments in the background of his clip as he spoke direct to the camera and told how the comments “made me chuckle” while his “incredible” wife was in the UAE.
Explaining the online debacle he said of his spouse: “She’s going away for seven days doing what she’s doing and I’m at home holding the fort.
“We made a funny video, as we do, we like to keep the real side of parenting.
“She put all the kids uniform out for the week so all I have got to do is go down to the office and send them to school, to make my life easier while she’s away.
“It puts her mind at ease so I’m not going to be running around badgering her on the phone.”
He then added: “then you get messages like this” before reading the troll remarks out.
He insisted their words were like water off a duck’s back as having worked on a building site, he had been branded “every name under the sun.”
Yet taking a serious tone, the Essex lad advised that for those parents already struggling, the cruel words might hit different.

One wrote: “Good for you! You’re an amazing duo and parents. Sending love xxx”
A second wrote: “A dad and husband some only wish they could be,” as a third stressed: “Good on ya for calling it out, much love xxx”
One then argued: “Absolute melts. YAWN! I do exactly the same as @cara_delahoyde when I go away… doesn’t make my husband a s**t dad!… he’s far from it!!… he just hasn’t got a f**king scooby doo where my kids socks are.”
A follower then surmised: “Well said Nath, I thought you were going to tear into them but you’re simply reminding people to be kind! Was more effective than hitting back.”
FURTHER GRIPES
Earlier this year, Nathan took to social media to moan at the government after returning to a very normal job.
Away from his work as an influencer, Nathan revealed that he had returned to his previous job as a carpenter when work was slow – yet was being taxed through the nose for his efforts.
Sitting on his sofa, Nathan praised the accountants after visiting and said: “It’s just hit me how much tax that we are paying. Like, don’t get me wrong, we do okay, we’re not multi millionaires by any stretch of the imagination, I wish I was but we’re not, we do OK.
“I’m back on the tools, I work on the tools when I can, when we’re not doing our bits on social media etcetera, and it’s just hit me how much we are getting taxed, and the VAT and everything we’ve got to pay is worrying.”
“Genuinely, how is anyone in this day and age supposed to get ahead of the game?” he questioned.
“It’s like, catch up, catch up, catch up. You know, it’s really a dark timing in in our history. I think it’s wowed me, I’m not gonna lie.”
Others quickly praised his honesty, sharing their own frustrations and struggles in the process.
Nathan and Cara took home £50,000 after winning Love Island series two back in 2017 , and shortly after were snapped up for a series of lucrative deals online and on TV.
Last November, Cara shut down her business still owing £25,000 to the tax man and in £90,000 worth of debt.
Cara and Nathan still have a business together called Delamassey – which they set-up together last July.
