"Big Three's Fate on Love Island Spin-Off Unveiled Amid Backlash and Rumors of Cancellation"

Love Island favourites Shakira Khan, Toni Laites and Yasmin Pettet were announced as the hosts of spin-off show The Debrief to huge fanfare – but their first series in the hot seats has been quite the bumpy ride.

Now, as fans speculate , as they’re known amongst the fandom, might be replaced on the series, The Sun can reveal what’s actually going on behind-the-scenes.

The group – who were all finalists in last year’s – have been hit by some intense backlash, viewer scrutiny and speculation they may even be axed from the next series.

But The Sun has been doing some digging and we can reveal that, in spite of of the pressure of the threesome, it seems their future as hosts of the Debrief is secure.

A source tells us: “It’s early days, so haven’t fully mapped out the next series of Love Island or the spin-off show yet as production only just finished on the last series, but execs were all really happy with , Yas and Shakira and have already had initial chats with them about working with them again.

“It very much looks like the girls will be back on The Debrief next year, even though contracts haven’t been signed yet.

“The feeling is, yes, it took them a bit of time to find their feet, but they were never expected to be seasoned presenters and the whole feel of the show is meant to be raw and unscripted, like a chat between mates.

The source added: “All three of the girls actually loved doing the show, it was their dream to be TV presenters and they achieved it.

“They always knew there would be some sniping about them on social media, because that’s the way the world is these days, and this was new territory for them, but they’re not insecure people who are reading all the comments.

“They know on a show like that, where you have to share opinions, that things they say will get divisive at times.

“They’re strong women, and they have each other, so they’re all really keen to come back.”

The Sun has approached reps for all three girls, as well as ITV, for comment.

The trio’s backlash includes includes series 12 winner Toni, 26, after commenting on a bombshell’s appearance.

She said of OG islander George Knight: “No tea no shade, George is a jump scare. I would be pissed if I saw him walk in, I’m not gonna lie.”

One user said: “Yeah I love Toni but that’s mean.”

A second shared: “That’s rude, especially because they all know about the hate after the villa.”

A third added: “It’s not funny to comment on someone’s looks.”

Meanwhile Shakira also caused a storm during a live on social media with Toni and Yaz.

Shakira said: “You might hate me for saying this, but someone has just said, ‘Why does Love Island UK lack diversity unlike ?’ I think people are getting really caught up on there being a lack of Black people, which is absolutely fair, but I think you’re also taking away the fact that we’ve got three South Asian people this year.

“We’ve got Mica, who is from the Caribbean, she’s from Barbados. So, there’s diversity in other forms, like, not all diversity is Black people. There’s so many bombshells yet to come, guys, like please just keep with it. It’s not going to be ‘everyone is a white person who is coming in’, like use your brains. Diversity comes in so many different forms.”

She later apologised if she had offended anybody, but continued to come under fire throughout the run.

Some viewers felt she was harsh in her views towards runner-up .

She was accused of siding with Kavan Murphy following his actions in .

Kavan raised eyebrows by repeatedly calling Tina ‘sexy in bed’, while she was coupled up with his brother Aidan.

Shakira however appeared to downplay them to argue that Jasmine’s behavior and flirtations with Lorenzo behind Kavan’s back were significantly worse.

One outraged viewer remarked: “Shakira has done more damage to her own reputation than anyone else.

“Dragging Jasmine while bending over backwards to defend men is WILD. The self sabotage is INSANE.”

Despite the ire she received, however, a friend of Shakira’s defends the star, saying: “Shakira is being paid to give her take, and just because she might criticise something a girl does doesn’t make her not a girls’ girl.

“People watched Shakira in the villa day after day for seven weeks last summer, you can’t hide in there. She showed her true self and so to suggest she’s shown a different side on The Debrief is ridiculous.

“If she has ever said anything that’s upset anyone, she’s always the first to hold her hands up. This is new territory for Shakira, Toni and Yas after Love Island and the way some of the fans have come for them is sad to see.”
