The star in question is Lulu Popplewell who is now 34 and a comedian.

Appearing on the Almost Famous podcast in 2020, the former child star admitted she isn’t as big a fan of the movie as people would think.

She said: “Look, softly be it spoken, I think it’s a s*** film. I think it’s aged badly.

“All the women in it are sort of passive objects.

“I think that there was an article that described them as passive objects to be acquired, and on re-watching it’s not great.”

However, she acknowledged that she doesn’t like cheesy films, stating: “I’m glad people like it.”

After Love Actually, Lulu played the part of Lyra Belacqua in Radio 4’s 2003 dramatisation of Philip Pullman’s trilogy.

However, she has since switched careers in showbiz, and now works as a stand-up comedian and musician.

In the summer, Lulu performed her sell-out stand up show, Love, Love, at the Fringe Festival.

Speaking about how she wrote the show, she told Pepper & Salt : “Honestly, it was chaotic. For very boring health reasons that I won’t go into.

“Don’t get me wrong, I have hugely enjoyed making this show but finding the time and health to make it has been complicated.

“Suffice to say 2025 has been an unwelcome barrage of nightmares and surprises.

“And the show has changed form many times and perhaps not had quite as much time to settle into its final form as I would have liked.

“But the fact I have managed to put it together and am proud of it is pretty cool, I think.”
