Louis Tomlinson Opens Up About Struggling to Accept Liam Payne's Death: "I’ll Never Come to Terms with It"

LOUIS Tomlinson has shared his feelings regarding the passing of Liam Payne and admitted that he is finding it difficult to cope with the loss.

Pop star Liam was in Buenos Aires in October of the previous year.

The two were close friends from 2010 until 2016 and continued their friendship after the band's breakup.

Reflecting on the pain of losing Liam, Louis told The Independent : “I foolishly believed that, by this point, I would be a bit more accustomed to grief than others my age.

“I thought that might mean something, but it didn’t at all. It’s something I’ll never truly accept. I don’t think.”

Louis is no stranger to loss, having experienced the death of his mother at the age of 43.

Just three years later, his sister Félicité also tragically passed away at the young age of 18.

This is not the first time Louis has spoken about Liam; he recently discussed him during an appearance on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast.

He shared: “I could go on and on about how incredible he was, but we all admired him.

“I don’t think we would have had the courage to express that when I was in the band; I think I would have been too proud, but we all looked up to him immensely.”

Talking about the moment he learned of Liam's death, Louis said: “In the car, in LA, I found out through Niall [Horan].

“I felt the same way I did with Félicité, and I think anyone can relate when they are around someone who is struggling; my 150 percent wasn’t nearly enough.

“And that’s when my own arrogance made me think that I could have helped, but it was so much deeper than what I could have done for him. He was definitely facing challenges at that time in his life.”

Liam had traveled to Argentina with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy for a five-day holiday to attend a concert featuring his former 1D bandmate.

Liam decided to extend his stay, while Kate returned home to the United States.
