LINGO viewers watched as two friends fall short of winning a £5k jackpot after a tricky puzzle question left them stumped.
TheITVafternoon quiz, fronted by,featurespairs of players attempting to use their spelling knowledge to complete a number of word-based puzzles.


But during one of the episodes of the quiz, university friends Shantelle and Vanessa failed to identify the correct answer in the time remaining.
The game is very similar to theapp â a mobile phone spelling game which saw a huge increase in users during the course of the Covidpandemic.
Shantelle and Vanessa managed to beat off their competitors Kevin and Michelle and Gemma and James, and were hopeful they could go all the way.
In the final round, the girls were given with a four letter word beginning with G and correctly worked it out to reveal the word ‘Goes’.
This meant that they were leaving the show with £1,275 regardless of what happened next.
They then took on their last puzzle with just a remaining of 20 seconds left.
They tried to work out the five word letter beginning with R.
Although they incorrectly guessed the word ‘Reads’, ‘Right’ and ‘Raise’ â they majority of the letters were revealed, apart from one.
They contestants left frustrated after narrowly missing out on the puzzle â but would you have worked it out?
Adil then revealed that the missing letter was ‘N’, meaning the completed word was in fact ‘Rinse’.
