Lewis Capaldi makes stage comeback after two year break for his mental health

LEWIS Capaldi has left fans in bits following his triumphant return to performing after a two-year hiatus.

wowed the crowds during his ‘overwhelming’ sell-out show and expressed his feelings following the success.

Over a clip of his new heart-wrenching song, he wrote: “First night back on tour and new song coming soon, life is good.”

wrote on Instagram Stories: “What a night! First weekend back on tour after two years away.

“Thank you all for making it so incredible. So good to be back.”

The 28-year-old returned to live music at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena over the weekend and opened with his new No1 .

“Thank you so much for still being here,” admitted. “I’m ­genuinely ­humbled that this is still a possibility for me. It means the world.”

“This is generally quite overwhelming,” Lewis told over 15,000 fans.

“First headline show since 2023, thank you all for making it so special .”

He proudly told fans on social media: “Back on da road.”

“Same again tonight Sheffield,” he penned alongside a photo of himself alone in the arena ahead of the huge comeback gig.

He teased: “New music coming soon.”

“Can’t wait for you to hear this one,” he wrote over a video of the tear-jerking ballad.

Reposting some choice fan photos, one image shows three fans with Lewis tour T-shirts on and oversized ribbons with his name emblazoned on.

Fans commented: “So happy for you! …like many in this thread have already said: we are so proud that you persevered and are back!!!”

“Touching hearts,” simply wrote a second.

“King is back,” proclaimed another fan.

Referring to his move to step back from the spotlight, Lewis explained the meaning

He revealed: “This is probably the most personal song I’ve ever written.

“And I know people say this all of the time. This was a song that I wrote at a time when I didn’t know if I would be around. It’s the saddest I have ever been.

“Honestly, it’s nice to be back, but over these past few years things were difficult. This song is about the most difficult time.”

, who took a break from performing live two years ago, made a brief comeback at this summer’s ahead of his sold-out UK tour.

Back in 2023 at the height of his anxiety, the Someone You Loved singer devastated fans and told them he was on his way out.

He penned: “Hello everyone. First of all, thank you to Glastonbury for having me, for singing along when I needed it and for all the amazing messages afterwards. It really does mean the world.”

The heartbreaking post continued: “The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.”

Lewis concluded: “I’m so incredibly sorry to everyone who had planned to come to a show before the end of the year but I need to feel well to perform at the standard you all deserve.

“Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of so this has been the most difficult decision of my life. I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can. All my love, always, Lewis x.”

Lewis has 14 more shows across the UK before heading to and , where he wraps the tour just eight days before .
