AFTER serving up slices of Americana, TV hitmaker Taylor Sheridan’s new show has a distinctly Scottish theme.

The Oscar-nominated US writer, who has given us Tulsa King , and , has now penned The Laird — the title of a large estate owner in Scotland ­— which is being turned into a big series for Paramount+.

A TV insider said: “This drama is likely to explore the links between Scotland and America, which is a theme that has come up in previous shows such as Yellowstone.

“That Western featured the Dutton family who revealed they originated in the Scottish Highlands, and in the 18th and 19th centuries huge numbers of Scots emigrated across the Atlantic to start new lives.

“In a darker chapter of the country’s history, many Scots also became involved in the trans- Atlantic slave trade, becoming rich landowners in the process and giving their names to many of the slaves they owned.”

Filming starts later this month in Scotland and it is likely to drop on the channel in 2027.

It is not clear who will star but ­Taylor’s previous outings have attracted some A-list names.

Most recently Landman featured and .

Tulsa King was fronted by and Yellowstone featured , with the prequel 1923 fronted by and .

The Mayor Of Kingstown starred Jeremy Renner and Emma Laird.

All of them have aired on .

KIT’S KILLER QUESTION

IN this first look, hunky policeman Kit asks to marry him this week on .

Sarah, played by , wells up as Kit pops the question.

But they are not tears of joy as the pressure of her murderous secret looms over the special moment.

Last month, Sarah was revealed as the killer of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).

She pushed him off scaffolding after confronting him over his abuse of his partner Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).

Detective Kit, played by Jacob Roberts in the ITV soap, is oblivious to the fact that he is in love with a murderer.

Actress Tina says Sarah is in a sticky situation.

“There’s a lot of guilt there and I think also, selfishly, she feels like she has ruined her chance with Kit.

“If he knows what she’s done, he might not want her any more and Sarah so wanted him to be her future,” Tina mused.

Torn over what to do, will Sarah say yes and keep the truth from Kit?

Or has the time come for her to confess all?

CHASERS SMASHIN’ SPIN-OFF

IT sounds like the new , was quite a wild ride when filming.

Quiz master says he was kicked out of a Greek taverna for smashing plates and got caught up in a rowdy stag do in Lisbon with fellow quizzer .

The spin-off of the hit ITV game show sees six pairs of contestants trying to track down all six Chasers, who are hiding around the world, with hosting.

But Chaser Anne Hegerty has told how the public kept recognising them and almost gave the game away.

She said: “We had to do pieces to camera near a big monument to Italian unification and the number of people walking past who turned out to be visiting British tourists . . . ”

The Chase Around The World airs on July 16 at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

THE Great British Sewing Bee returns to screens on July 14.

Comedian Sophie Willan is at the helm, replacing Sara Pascoe as host of the BBC One show.

Judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant are back to cast their expert eyes on the garments.

A-PAWS FOR LATE PUP TED

will return later this year – and this series is extra special as it features the last appearance of beloved show dog Ted.

The Patterdale terrier cross, who died in April, belonged to the series’ producer Lisa Clark and became a star of the BBC show, often overshadowing the two comedians with his antics.

“There’s a new series with six episodes coming soon,” announced Bob.

“One of them is very special as it’s the last appearance of Ted.”

Paul added: “So you’ll be able to see Ted again and wave him goodbye.”

They also announced Ted’s third book, a memoir of his time on the programme, will be out later this year.

DANNY BEARD has revealed he nabbed the role of the late in a new play, thanks to Celebrity Big Brother.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner Danny, right, explained, “I did CBB last year. Playwright Jonathan Harvey was watching it. I did this Scouse mum improvisation. The rest is history.”

Savage premieres at Curve Theatre Leicester next February before a run in London’s West End.

Danny said telling the story of his hero Paul, whose alter-ego was Lily Savage, felt “terrifying”.

Keen to join Lucy Punch, who plays self- centred mum Amanda in the Motherland spin-off, the TV host said: “I’ve binge-watched all of Amandaland. It would be great to have a little cameo.”

One gig she has ruled out, though, is dating shows.

Speaking at a Sky Vegas event, Denise said: “I have been invited to do Celebs Go Dating before but, as I’ve got older, I’ve realised that I quite like to keep my personal life private.”

LIFE is imitating art for , who now has a robot cat – after playing a woman who gets a cyborg carer.

Since appearing in upcoming BBC comedy Ann Droid with Diane Morgan, The Royle Family icon was gifted the fake feline by her co-star.

And Sue says it is so lifelike, she forgets it is not real.

“It purrs, its heart beats, its tail wags, it meows,” explained Sue. “It’s so soft.”

She added: “Because it is so comfort-ing, there are times when I look at it and I go, ‘Aah’. You suddenly get an understanding of it. I have to think to myself, ‘It’s not real’.

“Robots could be brilliant for people in old people’s homes who can’t have their animals with them.”

In Ann Droid, which starts on July 17, Sue plays a woman who is gifted a high-tech “Eldercare” helper, portrayed by Philomena Cunk favourite Diane. The pair go on to form an unlikely friendship.
