Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to quickly organize a meeting with all former Nigerian leaders to discuss the recent threat made by United States President, Donald Trump, against Nigeria.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday, Lamido characterized Trump’s remarks as “very ominous,” cautioning that the potential implications could be catastrophic if not addressed appropriately.

“The threat of war on Nigeria from President Trump of the United States of America, under any circumstances, is very ominous. The consequences of such an action are unimaginable,” he stated.

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs encouraged Nigerians to remain united in protecting the nation's sovereignty, irrespective of their religion or background.

“It is now crucial for all Nigerians of various faiths to come together in support of our sovereignty. President Tinubu, for his part, must set aside his pride and invite all our former leaders for a private meeting to thoroughly discuss and devise a strategy to navigate this perilous situation,” Lamido emphasized.

He further appealed to former Presidents and Heads of State to put aside political and personal differences and collaborate closely with the Tinubu administration to avert any escalation of tensions.

“Our former Presidents and Heads of State are well-positioned to engage the USA and President Trump through discreet diplomacy, away from the media spotlight, to address any concerns the U.S. may have,” he added.

Lamido concluded by underscoring that Nigeria cannot afford to waste time and called for immediate and collective efforts to ensure the nation’s stability and sovereignty.
