Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has given the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) a nine-day deadline to address what he referred to as escalating internal conflicts within the party.

Lamido issued this ultimatum during a meeting with PDP stakeholders in Jigawa State, including former chairpersons, commissioners, and political allies, who advocated for the complete dissolution of the Ibadan convention and the organization of a new one.

The former governor expressed his concerns that long-standing stakeholders like himself have been marginalized by “new forces” attempting to disrupt the party’s established framework. He claimed that the ongoing crisis is partly motivated by efforts to diminish his political influence within the PDP.

Lamido clarified that his recent legal actions were not aimed at clinging to power or positioning himself for leadership within the party, but rather to defend the PDP’s legacy and safeguard his fundamental rights, which he believes have been violated.

He emphasized that, according to the party’s constitution, Umar Damagum and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remain the rightful leaders of the PDP until their terms officially conclude on December 8, 2025.

“I am advocating for a caretaker committee. I urge Wike, Damagum, and others to reconcile and support the establishment of a unified caretaker body,” he stated.

Lamido called on the PDP’s leadership to hold a joint meeting to openly discuss the party’s issues and outline a clear strategy to restore unity and credibility.

He also encouraged his supporters to remain calm and patient until December 8, emphasizing that the developments within the party in the upcoming days will shape its future direction.
