Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, and one of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP founding fathers has called on Nigerians to unite in defense of democracy.

Lamido made the appeal in a post on his official Facebook page while reacting to the deepening crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According to him, “Snippets circulating claim that some PDP State Chairmen were invited by the lords of Nigeria and ordered to thwart any attempt to discipline Wike and his gang”

“This desperation to hasten the collapse of the PDP will inevitably hasten the collapse of our nascent democracy with dire consequences”

“Let us all unite and save DEMOCRACY, the APC government and all the opposition Parties!!” Lamido stated.

He described the development as a deliberate attempt to weaken the PDP, stressing that such desperation posed a greater danger to Nigeria’s democracy.

The former governor urged members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, the opposition parties, and all Nigerians to rise above partisan interests and work collectively to safeguard the democratic system.

Lamido noted that the current political tensions could endanger the country’s democratic journey.
