The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has issued a strong warning that the Command will not tolerate any form of disruptive activism that could threaten public order in the state.
This warning followed a meeting with activist Dr. Segun Awosanya, Bernard Onigah, and other representatives from civil society at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
Jimoh stressed that while activism is a valid means of civic engagement, it should not be used in ways that compromise peace and security.
He reiterated that Omoyele Sowore is still wanted by the Lagos State Police Command for actions considered likely to incite disorder.
The CP advised Sowore to report to any police station in the state instead of trying to engage with the police through social media, which he described as theatrics that do not address the real issues.
Regarding the cancelled protest planned for the Third Mainland Bridge, Jimoh defended the Command’s position, emphasizing that the bridge is a crucial national asset and cannot be subjected to activities that could endanger lives, disrupt movement, or hinder economic operations.
During his visit, the Commissioner also inaugurated a newly constructed access gate and additional facilities at the Ikeja Divisional Headquarters.
These upgrades are expected to facilitate movement and improve operational efficiency within the premises, especially since the Division and Area F had previously relied on a single entry point.
Jimoh praised the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Akinwunmi Oke, for initiating and executing the project, noting that the Command is dedicated to enhancing infrastructure that strengthens policing throughout Lagos State.
