The Presidency announced on Friday that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is one of President Bola Tinubu’s most significant contributions to the Nigerian people.

Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, remarked that the president’s detractors will feel embarrassed once the project reaches completion.

In a post on his X page, Onanuga noted that the highway has decreased travel time by 50 percent.

He stated: “The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is one of President Bola Tinubu’s most remarkable gifts to Nigeria. Those who have criticized this groundbreaking project will be embarrassed when the Tinubu administration finishes the road.

“While construction is still in progress, the segment from Ogombo to Ahmadu Bello Way has significantly benefited users, reducing travel time by over 50 percent.

“On Friday morning, when I departed from Ajah to Isaac John in Ikeja, Google Maps initially indicated that the journey would take two and a half hours. However, it quickly suggested an alternative route that would take just 70 minutes.

“I chose that option and found myself on the Coastal Road. In under 25 minutes, we reached the Ahmadu Bello end of the road.

“Aside from the traffic congestion at the MRS fuel station due to motorists queuing for Dangote petrol, the trip to Ikeja was remarkably smooth.

“We arrived in Ikeja in an impressive 65 minutes on a typically congested Friday. Kudos to the visionary and dreamer, and appreciation to the contractors for their quality work on the road. Note: The Coastal Road is not fully open to traffic.”
