Labour Party Launches Caretaker Committee in Taraba

The Taraba State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has established a caretaker committee to manage the party’s activities following the conclusion of the previous executives' tenure.

The inauguration ceremony occurred on Monday at the party’s state secretariat in Jalingo, attended by party leaders, members, and supporters.

The outgoing Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Johnson Gulmu, who now holds the position of Deputy National Vice Chairman for the North East, characterized the event as more than just a formal transition.

She expressed that it symbolizes a “moment of reflection, gratitude, and a peaceful transition of leadership,” reaffirming the party’s dedication to democratic principles.

Gulmu praised the outgoing executive for their contributions and congratulated the newly appointed officials, encouraging them to collaborate in strengthening the party’s presence and influence throughout the state.

In his acceptance speech, the new caretaker chairman, Rev. Simon Zubairu, expressed gratitude to the party’s National Secretariat for their trust in the team.

He also committed to meeting those expectations and praised Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas’ peace initiatives, vowing to lead with a focus on unity and progress.

Other members of the caretaker committee include Augustine Bazin, James Benjamin, Andrew Audu, Deborah Chenny, Lydia Johnson, Emmanuel Peter, Zinox Enoch, Buba Yaro, and Hajiya Fatima Muhammed.
