Labour Party crisis: Datti meets Abure in bid to reconcile warring factions

Former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has initiated moves to reconcile warring factions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Datti reportedly met with Julius Abure, the factional National Chairman of the party, and members of his camp in Abuja on Monday, where he pledged to lead efforts aimed at resolving the lingering crisis in the party.

DAILY POST reports that the Labour Party has been embroiled in an internal leadership crisis since after the 2023 general elections.

The rift has threatened the party’s cohesion and performance ahead of future elections.

Recently, the presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi, expressed support for the political coalition under the platform of the African Democratic Congress.

However, Datti’s intervention is seen as a significant step towards restoring stability in the party.
