A former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has suggested that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters may soon join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahmad made this known in a post on Thursday night on X, after Vice President Kashim Shettima referred to Kwankwaso as “NNPP-APC”; during a public event.
Reacting to the statement, Ahmad wrote: “If nothing else, Vice President Shettima referring to Senator Kwankwaso as ‘NNPP-APC’ is a strong signal that the NNPP leader and his teeming supporters are on the verge of joining our great party, the APC.”;
He added that this potential move would bring about long-desired political unity in Kano State.
“This will help to have a politically united Kano, something long desired for the progress and stability of our state,”; he said.
Though there has been no official confirmation from Kwankwaso or the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), the comment has fueled speculation about a possible political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
