Kogi: Police deny using helicopter to deliver food to bandits

Published on May 13, 2025 at 05:31 PM

The Nigeria Police Force has debunked social media claims that a police helicopter was used to deliver food to bandits in Kogi State, describing the allegation as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday, the police clarified that the viral video showing a helicopter landing in a bushy area was taken during a legitimate security operation in Obajana, Kogi State, on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

According to the statement, the operation was a coordinated mission involving the police, other security agencies, local vigilantes, and hunters, aimed at tackling banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the region.

“The police helicopter seen in the video was deployed to provide aerial support and surveillance to ground troops during the operation,”;; the statement explained. “The suggestion that the helicopter was used to deliver food items to bandits is entirely baseless and mischievous.”;;

The Force urged the public to disregard the claims and rely only on official police communication channels for accurate and verified updates regarding security operations.

Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the Nigeria Police emphasized that it will continue working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of lives and property across the country.
