KERRY Katona has spoken out about her pal Katie Price’s feud with ex-husband Peter Andre after their daughter Princess opened up about her “unhappy” childhood.
Exes Katie , 47, and Pete , 52, have been locked in a bitter war of words after the former glamour model claimed she was “banned” from appearing on Princess ’ reality show The Princess Diaries.
During one episode the 18-year-old recalled Katie’s split from second husband Kieran Hayler and detailed the impact his leaving had on her and brother Junior , 20.
Kieran, 38, later issued an apology to his former stepchildren – and now Kerry , 44, has had her say.
Writing in her column for new! magazine , Kerry said: “There’s been a lot of drama surrounding my friend Katie Price and her daughter Princess Andre, which is never nice to see.
“Princess said in her show The Princess Diaries that she had a really difficult time when her mum split up with Kieran Hayler and Kieran has since issued a public apology.”
The former Atomic Kitten singer made her feelings clear on the situation, adding: “I think it’s good that he has apologised – he bloody well should have!
“There’s a lot people don’t see behind closed doors and it’s not my business, but Kieran definitely owed Princess and Junior an apology.”
Speaking about Katie and Kieran’s divorce, Princess recalled watching her mum go through dark times — heartbreak, drug battles, PTSD, and even a suicide attempt — all triggered by the messy split.
She said: “He was in our lives for five years, so we got really close to him, obviously we loved him, he did a lot of stuff and when they split up everything went downhill.
“My mum was obviously heartbroken, she didn’t deal with that the best way, she went through a very, very dark time which was understandable.”
Kieran was quick to respond, admitting leaving the family home where he’d lived with the kids for five years was “one of the hardest things I ever had to do,” he said, adding he’s “deeply sorry” for letting them down.
He told the Daily Mail : “It makes me feel so sad. I am as sorry as I can be to Princess witnessing us go through such a horrible separation. Leaving them was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.
“I would love to apologise and really know how she felt during that time when mine and Kate’s marriage broke down.”
Last week Pete made a rare public comment about Katie after she opened up about Princess and Junior’s living situation.
In a scathing statement he wrote: “For sixteen years I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silence has been incredibly frustrating.”
He continued: “That ends today.”
“The latest comments about my children’s welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight.
“For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood.”
