SIR KEIR Starmer has resigned as Prime Minister after months of turmoil and just two years in power.

The tearful PM paid tribute to his “fantastic wife Vic, who who has been a rock by my side through good times and bad” as the couple emerged from hand-in-hand.

She stood by her husband’s side as the embattled Prime Minister .

The couple tearfully embraced in an emotional moment just two years after they stood on the steps of No10 following a Labour landslide victory in 2024.

Who is Keir Starmer’s wife Victoria?

Born Victoria Alexander in north London in 1974, is a former solicitor who now works for the as an occupational health worker.

She was raised in Gospel Oak by her father Bernard, an economics lecturer of Polish-Jewish heritage, and her mother Barbara, an NHS community doctor who sadly passed away in February 2020.

Vic, as affectionately calls her, attended Channing School in Highgate before studying law and sociology at Cardiff University, where she served as president of the student union.

How did Keir Starmer meet his wife Victoria?

The couple were introduced in the early 2000s while working on the same legal case – as a senior barrister at Doughty Street Chambers and Vic as a solicitor at Hodge Jones & Allen.

In 2021, speaking on ITV’s , Keir revealed he had rung her to query a document, with Vic reportedly snapping to a colleague: “Who the f*** does he think he is?”

The future PM later mused: “You might think ‘not the best of starts’ but it was absolute classic Vic. No nonsense from anyone, including me.”

He won her over with a first date at the Lord Stanley pub in Camden.

Keir recalled : “At least he walked me to the bus stop afterwards and waved at me when it left, so he got a tick for that.”

When did Keir and Victoria Starmer get married?

The pair married on May 6, 2007 at the Fennes Estate near Bocking in Essex.

Vic walked down the aisle to one of her husband’s favourite pieces, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5.

The family home before was a townhouse in Kentish Town, in the heart of Keir’s Holborn and St Pancras constituency.

Speaking of his wife on the campaign trail, Keir said: “She is my rock. We are like two sides of the same coin.

“She is sassy, down-to-earth and gives brilliant advice. We just bring out the best in each other. She certainly brings out the best in me.”

Keir and Vic have two children together – a son and daughter, both teenagers.

The Starmers made the decision to keep them out of the public spotlight, with Keir refusing to publicly name them or share photos of their faces.

Although the Prime Minister has said he is not personally religious, his wife has reportedly passed on her Jewish heritage to the kids.

What does Victoria Starmer do for a living?

After qualifying as a solicitor at Hodge Jones & Allen specialising in street crime, Vic later switched paths to work in occupational for the NHS, where she remains today.

Just before the last , Keir told the Times his wife had no intention of giving up the role, even if he made it to Downing Street.

He said: “She’s absolutely going to carry on working, she wants to and she loves it. It’s also good for me because it gives me an insight into the NHS.”

The famously private has never given a media interview.

Keir told the Times : “We’ll keep it that way.

“I’m not going to pretend that it’s easy for her, because it isn’t.

“She wants to get on with her life.

“It is a massive intrusion when you have media outside the house.

“It is inhibiting on the whole family.

“That does impact on her and will do even more if we’re privileged enough to get it over the line.”

But Vic has been spotted by her husband’s side for several major moments since he took office.

These include accompanying Keir to his audience with after .

While the audience was one-on-one, Vic was at with her husband.

The couple also attended together in Vatican City in April 2025.
