Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, on Wednesday, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
The governor made this known during the handover of 100 motorbikes and 10 Hilux patrol vehicles to the Taraba Marshal, a state-backed security outfit established to strengthen grassroots security and combat crime.
Represented at the event in Jalingo by Nelson Lens, the member representing Ngoroje Constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Kefas said the vehicles and motorbikes were provided to enhance the operational capacity of the Taraba Marshal in safeguarding communities across the state.
He recalled that, upon assuming office, insecurity was rife, with many residents unable to sleep peacefully, but noted that the situation has improved significantly.
According to him, sustained efforts by security agencies have helped to restore relative peace and safety in Taraba, making the state safer for residents.
He commended the various security agencies for their dedication and also expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their continued cooperation with security operatives.
Also speaking, the Commandant of the Taraba Marshal, retired Commissioner of Police Agyole Abeh, applauded the governor for providing a conducive security environment in the state.
He acknowledged the governor’s consistent support for the outfit, describing the latest procurement of vehicles and motorbikes as a continuation of that commitment.
Abeh disclosed that the 100 motorbikes and 10 Hilux patrol vehicles would be distributed across the 16 local government areas of the state to further strengthen security at the grassroots level.
