FANS of Katie Price were left stunned over the weekend when photographs emerged of her sitting side-by-side and laughing with her former manager Claire Powell.

Those who have followed Katie’s career will all remember how the pair’s professional working relationship broke down following Katie’s split with and how it left Claire and Katie ‘feuding’ and no longer on speaking terms for the following years to come.

But now, for the first time, the pair are back in touch, in a move that no one saw coming.

I spent time with both Claire and Katie this weekend as they attended the UK Hair and Beauty Awards in Manchester – the first time they have been seen publicly together since 2009.

They have told me the real story of why they’re back in touch – and it’s easy to see just how much Katie really does adore Claire after all this time.

For Claire to be the story, it is fair to say, is somewhat unusual.

She is a management and PR powerhouse who has brokered the biggest deals and managed client reputations with unwavering dedication at her firm, The Can Group.

Being behind-the-scenes means that Claire isn’t always the story – but over the past few days, her public reunion with Katie has been all anyone can talk about.

Knowing that 48-year-old Katie – known as Jordan in her glamour girls days – was on her way to the event and with chatter already emerging, it felt like the perfect time to speak to Claire about this.

Ever the professional, Claire agreed to talk to me for the first time about the past drama and where she and Katie really stand today.

Chatting backstage, I asked Claire how things all began with Katie, shortly after she met Peter in I’m A Celebrity, and it’s a time she looks back on fondly.

She recalled: “Well, I’ve managed Pete from when he left Australia 32 years ago and came to England and then they went into the jungle and Kate’s mum asked me if I would manage her.

“I hadn’t worked with Page Three Girls or anything like that before – I’m a planner, I’m a strategist, so this wasn’t really my bag.

“At first we said no, and then we just sort of kept talking. Then I said ‘I think you should show people the real , like you did in the Jungle, and not so much Jordan as I think showing the Katie Price brings a lot more longevity in working with brands’ and it really worked at an international level.”

But things took a turn when Katie and Peter divorced five years later with Claire choosing to remain working long-term with Peter.

Claire admits to me that it was a difficult time as seeing Peter’s upset about the divorce also coincided with her own heartbreaking split from partner Neville.

Claire says: “When Peter and Kate split up, you know, I lost Peter because he couldn’t work, he was devastated.

“Kate obviously went on her own path and did things in her own way and handled the situation very differently.

“Then me and my partner, my son’s dad, with the stress of it all, split up a few months later.

“I lost just as much as what everyone else did, but everyone was jumping on this bandwagon and that really shouldn’t have happened.”

Since then, things between Katie and Claire have been tense – despite Claire now managing Katie’s kids Junior and Princess – with Katie having shared some less-than-savoury thoughts on Claire in the past.

But they have privately been back in touch for close to a year and are on civil terms.

Whilst Claire is most certainly not back managing Kate, Claire told me she wished that Katie could be happy.

Claire’s aim for peace coincides with Katie and Peter’s own truce – something the manager admits she is glad about.

She said: “Katie and Peter have been able to put everything back in the past behind them.

“They can move forward now which is great for the sake of Junior and Princess.

“I really hope that she’s getting herself into a good place.

“But we have met up behind the scenes and the kids are really happy about that as well.

“I think Peter just wants to have a happy life and everyone around him to be happy.

“He’s in a very happy marriage with Emily with a busy life enjoying what he does.

“I think they all just want peace now and not for everyone to jump on the bandwagon and leave it be as it was all a long time ago and let everyone move on.”

She continued: “What really makes me very angry, as a manager, is you don’t see all the hard work that goes in behind the scenes to build a brand and manage a person.

“It’s not always about the money.

“Our duty of care as a management – I actually don’t know another management company that is and does what we do for our clients!

“Of course we’ve got to earn but just look at how well we do with our clients, who we’ve managed for years and are still do brilliantly well.”

Just an hour after my chat with Claire, Katie arrived with a bang at the event, instantly lapping up the attention from the crowd.

Katie took a seat at the table with the Can team, ready to watch her son Junior perform his brand new single, Goosebumps during the show at the AO Arena.

All smiles, I could see first-hand how any simmering tension between Claire and Katie had calmed down with the pair sharing a joke and chatting cordially in between the awards.

It was here that it was asked if Katie would speak with me – something she happily agreed too.

In a throwback to the late 2000s, myself, Claire and Katie all went into a dressing room backstage at the arena to chat.

It left the Pricey remarking to me as we sat down together: “This is like I’ve gone back 20 years.

“It’s so amazing that I am here with Claire – she used to manage me and this feels like it’s come around full circle.

“Me and Claire have spoke for a year now and we’ve put everything behind us.”

It is clear to see how much Katie thinks of Claire and it was obvious how much she respects her professionalism and an ability to do a job well.

Katie said: “Tonight I’ve even been saying to Claire, ‘where do I need to go? Do I need to go and do pictures?’

“Even Princess has been asking me, ‘Mum, does it feel weird that you are asking Claire about the night.

“It all just feels like home, it’s all very positive and feels like home.

“I walked in and I straight away gave Claire a hug – because we’ve had roast dinners and we meet for lunch now and again.

“But you know what? In life, sometimes you’re at peace with yourself and you can move on.

“Me and Claire have spoke about everything and we know what we are about.

“Claire is an amazing manager and she’s doing the best to guide my kids and I will always be grateful for that.”
