Kano records ₦273m property loss, five deaths in fire Incidents

Kano State Fire Service has revealed that property worth ₦273.7m and five lives were lost in different fire outbreaks across the State in May 2025.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer of the service, ACF Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.

He said, “The Kano Fire Service received 71 emergency calls, 55 fire calls, 9 rescue operation calls and 7 false alarm calls within the month”;.

The statement also revealed the fire service was able to save property worth ₦446.6m and saved five people from different fire incidents.

The statement also indicated that the director of the State Fire service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged residents to be vigilant as Eid-el-Kabir festivities is approaching, a period that is often associated with cooking and other celebratory activities that increase the risk of fire outbreak.

“I want to use this opportunity to draw the attention of the general public to handle fire with care to avoid fire incidences particularly during the Eid-el-Kabir Sallah festival,”; the statement read.

Motorists were also advised to drive with care and strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations.
