Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has resolved the dispute between Kabiru Alhassan Rurum and Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila following a reconciliation meeting in Kano.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, both politicians agreed to forgive each other and work together again.

Rurum said the misunderstanding had been resolved and that they were now united once more.

“The dispute has been settled, and we have now reunited as one family and will work together more than ever before,” he said.

He also thanked Governor Yusuf for stepping in to restore peace between them.

Senator Kawu Sumaila described the disagreement as a misunderstanding caused by “the handiwork of Satan”.

“We are one family, and what united us is more than politics. We have family ties and other relationships beyond imagination. What happened was a misunderstanding, and we have resolved the differences, and it is indeed the devil’s work,” the senator said.

The All Progressives Congress chairman in Kano State, Umar Haruna Doguwa, urged supporters of both leaders to move on and focus on the party’s future victories.

He thanked Governor Yusuf for his quick intervention, saying, “This shows that he is really a leader.”

The reconciliation meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, APC officials, Senator Kawu Sumaila, and Rurum.

Both politicians also invited their supporters to attend the affirmation of Senator Kawu Sumaila as the APC senatorial candidate for Kano South on Monday, May 18, 2026.
