President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the National Assembly, where he will address a joint session of the lawmakers as part of the activities lineup to celebrate Nigeria’s 26 years of democracy.
Members of the National Assembly are already said to be seated at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, where the event is happening.
Later in the day, there will also be a Democracy Day lecture, where key political figures are to deliver speeches on several issues affecting Nigeria.
Among dignitaries present are the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule; Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and other members of the Cabinet.
Also present are former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and Ken Nnamani; former Governors Aminu Masari and Anyim Pius Anyim, who also served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation; and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, among others.
