JOSE MOURINHO and Jurgen Klopp’s comments about winning extra titles have resurfaced after Man City were found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.
City were found to have in a bombshell verdict on Friday.
It’s not known what punishment the club will face, but it has been suggested they or even relegation.
City have always deny the charges and are expected to launch an immediate appeal.
The club were charged by the Premier League following an investigation into alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018.
The stunning news has led to fans questioning whether .
City won three Prem titles in that time period in 2012, 2014 and 2018.
That last one saw City make history by winning the title with 100 points as finished second on 81 points.
And Mourinho – who managed United in that season – previously said he hadn’t given up hope of having a fourth title added to his record ahead of City’s verdict.
He said in October 2024: “As you know, we won the [in 2017] and we finished second in the Premier League [in 2018],” he said.

What were Man City charged with?
MAN CITY have been found guilty of all but one of the 115 charges they were initially hit with.
Those charges were upped to 130 and fit into the following six categories…
- Failing to give accurate financial information over sponsorship revenue, related parties and operating costs between 2009-10 and 2017/18. Total charges: 50
- Failing to provide full details of managerial remuneration between 2009/10 and 2012/13. Total charges 8
- Failing to provide full details of player remuneration between 2010/11 and 2015/16. Total charges 12
- Failing to comply with Uefa Licencing and Financial Fair Play regulations between 2013/14 and 2017/18. Total charges 5
- Breaching Premier League Profitability and Sustainability rules between 2015/16 and 2017/18. Total charges 25
- Failing to co-operate with the Premier League investigation between 2018/19 and 2022/23. Total charges 30

“I think we still have a chance to win that league because maybe they punish Man City with points and maybe we win that league and then they have to pay me the bonus and give me the medal.”
And Klopp also teased the idea of Liverpool being awarded at least two titles after coming second to City in 2019 and 2022.
He was asked during a Q&A with comedian John Bishop: “You leave this club having won the Premier League once.
“There could be a court decision that means you’ve won the Premier League three times…”
Klopp cheekily replied: “If you organise a bus parade, I’m in! How long it takes I don’t care.”
However, it’s unlikely that Liverpool would be awarded those two titles – even if Man City were stripped of titles – as they happened after the period where the alleged offences were committed.
The initial investigation came about after German outlet Der Spiegel published leaked financial documents from City in November 2018.
