“When I found out my wife was pregnant, I was 24 – certainly wasn’t planning to have any kids at that point,” he told hosts and Louise Boyce.
“She came in, showed me the test and I laughed solidly for about 20 minutes – and then, point blank refused to talk about it for about two months,” said Jordan, admitting that he felt “ashamed” about his behaviour now – as it was Naomi’s first time becoming a parent too.
“I was petrified, none of my friends had kids, my older – he didn’t have any kids at the time – no one around me had children,” Jordan said.
“I just didn’t know what to expect.”
When the couple eventually welcomed Cassius, the baby was suffering from reflux – which, at the time and with very limited knowledge, Jordan thought was normal.
“In my head, I was like, ‘Babies throw up’. So when he was first born, I was petrified, no idea what I was doing and every time I went near him, he just screamed,” he told the two mums.
“When he was first born, I honestly thought, ‘This kid is not gonna survive two weeks, I’m gonna mess it up’.”
Six months after welcoming Cassius, the pair fell pregnant again – despite wanting to stop at one child at the time.
The birth of Mimi gave the loved-up pair a little girl and a little boy – and this is when Jordan decided that this was “perfect” and he’d be getting a vasectomy.
Jordan, who said , was just 25 when he booked the appointment in 2020 – but when lockdown struck it was cancelled.
Then came another surprise during their – unbeknown to the couple, they were to become parents once again.
“At the wedding she was like, ‘I feel a bit weird’ – she had, like, one glass of champagne,” Jordan recalled the shock discovery.
At the airport on the way to their honeymoon, things became real once again.
“I remember I was in the queue for KFC and she went, ‘I’m gonna go to the toilet. I checked my app, I am late – I’m gonna do the ,'” Jordan remembered.
“Across the terminal, she walked out, I saw her face and went….
“I walked straight out of the queue – I was like, ‘I’ve lost my appetite’.
“She walked over, sat down with me and went, ‘Yeah, it’s positive’,” said Jordan who then committed to having a vasectomy before their youngest was born.
The operation works to block sperm being released during ejaculation – by cutting, blocking or sealing a man’s tubes.
The NHS explains: “This prevents sperm from reaching the seminal fluid (semen), which is ejaculated from the penis during sex.
“There will be no sperm in the semen, so a woman’s egg can’t be fertilised.”
Jordan said: “I promise you now, the actual procedure must’ve been a maximum […] of about two minutes.”
He added: “The only thing that was gross is you can hear the cut and […] then they cinch either end and then that’s it. The cut is so tiny.
“I was there for two minutes, I sat up and he was like, ‘That’s it’.”
Despite experiencing brutal swelling the same night, the dad-of-three felt completely ”fine” a few days later, although there was some “blood” when he first ejaculated after the procedure.
“It hasn’t happened since. But […] it scared the life out of me,” he told the hosts.
